Stop Guessing if Your Website Is Online: Meet SiteInformant (1-Min Demo Video)

posted 2 min read

As developers, we’ve all had that moment…
A production site goes down, an SSL certificate quietly expires, or a client messages you saying,
“Hey, is something wrong with the website?”

Most uptime tools I found were either too expensive, too bloated, or too limited.
So I decided to build something cleaner — a lightweight monitoring platform that doesn’t require a big budget or a giant learning curve.

Meet SiteInformant
A fast, affordable website uptime & SSL monitoring tool built using .NET 8, Blazor WebAssembly, Entity Framework, and Stripe for subscription handling.

It checks your site every few minutes, records response times, tracks downtime events, and alerts you when something breaks or when your SSL certificate is close to expiring.

Here’s a quick 30-second promo video I made that shows how it works:

Tech Stack & Architecture
SiteInformant is a fun blend of technologies most C# developers already love:

  • .NET 8 Web API for all backend logic
  • Blazor WebAssembly for a fast, interactive dashboard
  • SQLite with WAL mode for efficient writes
  • Background service using a domain-driven pattern to perform status checks
  • Stripe Checkout + Webhooks for billing
  • EF Core 8 repositories optimized for minimal tracking and performance
  • Email notifications with throttling
  • Public JSON API (no auth required for read-only uptime data)

If you're a .NET dev, you’ll feel right at home reading the codebase.

Why I Built It
I wanted something:

  • Simple to use
  • Predictable in cost
  • Developer-friendly
  • Transparent (no hidden limits)
  • Fast (no bloated dashboards or JS frameworks)
  • And something I personally wouldn’t mind running for my own clients.

Pricing (Intentionally Straightforward)
1 site free forever
✅ Starter → $1/mo → 10 sites
✅ Pro → $4.99/mo → 70 sites
✅ Business → Crossed out $9.99 → Actually $4.99/mo → 150 sites (“Special Deal”)
✅ Enterprise → $24.99/mo → 500 sites

No surprise overages or throttling.

Try It Out
If you want to monitor your own site or project, you can check it out here:

Would love feedback from developers here — whether it's performance ideas, feature suggestions, or integrations you’d like to see (Slack, Discord, Teams, etc.).

Thanks for reading, and happy coding!
