Thought I’d start with prompt engineering , turns out I need other skills first.

I got curious about AI and figured prompts is how we communicate with it.
The output depends on the prompt.

Quality Prompt = Quality Output.

At first, I thought I should start learning Prompt Engineering. Then i learned it's not something you jump right into right away.

It usually comes with related skills like

  • Familiarity with AI/LLMs
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Coding (often Python)
  • Strong Communication or Domain knowledge

Some companies have looked for candidates with 3-5 years of relevant experience in broadly related areas like ML, Engineering or conversational AI.

In short - Experience helps, yes but context, adaptability, and willingness to learn may matter more than tenure.
