Plugin conflicts can be such a headache. Does the recovery process also help identify which plugin caused the crash?
WordPress Crash Recovery & Plugin Conflict Resolution

@[MightyMeta] Yes, absolutely—identifying the exact culprit is the most critical first step before touching any files or deactivating anything.
In production triage, you avoid blind trial-and-error by letting the stack trace isolate it:
- Stack Trace Isolation (Step 1): Enabling
WP_DEBUG_LOG(routed to a private log destination outside the web root) or checking PHP-FPM / web server error logs pinpoints the exact file and line number of the fatal error. The path will show/wp-content/plugins/{plugin-slug}/..., identifying the culprit immediately. - Hook Conflict Tracing: If two plugins collide over the same filter or action hook (e.g., one plugin returns an unexpected type or null object that breaks a downstream plugin), the call stack trace reveals both the caller plugin and the receiving plugin in the chain.
- Safe Verification via WP-CLI (Step 2): Once the offending plugin slug is identified, you can deactivate just that specific plugin using
wp plugin deactivate {plugin-slug} --skip-plugins --skip-themes. The--skip-pluginsflag ensures WP-CLI executes without loading the broken code, letting you isolate the problem safely without renaming folders or disrupting unrelated plugins.
This turns what usually feels like guesswork into a 2-minute surgical diagnosis.
