Scoping a pest control website: the questions I ask before quoting

A pest control site is not priced like a brochure. When a company asks me for a quote, I skip the page count and ask these first:

  1. Which pests do you treat? Each one should get its own page. A visitor with carpenter ants wants a page about carpenter ants, not a bullet in a list of twelve services.
  2. How do recurring plans work today? Quarterly or monthly service is often steady income. The site can explain the plans, hand requests to your scheduling software, or take full online sign-up and billing. Each step up adds build and testing time.
  3. What does your quote form need? Pest, property type, ZIP, contact method, optional photo. Anything beyond that costs leads.
  4. How many service areas? I start with the three to six that bring the most work and write each one properly instead of cloning city pages.
  5. What is already in use? Field-service or scheduling software decides how much integration work there is.
  6. Who reviews the safety and licensing wording? That content should come from the licensed people on your team, not from me.

Typical freelancer builds land around $2,500 to $10,000 depending on how far down this list the project goes, with $50 to $300 a month in running costs. Agencies commonly charge 1.5 to 2.5 times more for the same scope.

I wrote the full breakdown, with three sample budgets and seven questions to ask any developer before signing:
