Agreed. "How will this improve business outcomes?" - If the conversation does begin with that then all of the technical skill and potential is meaningless and mis-aligned from day 0. Architects need this skill more than any other. Sell business value. Depict business workflows. Speak the product and business language.

Exactly. Technical people always complain that users don't understand the technology when an idea gets rejected, but they fail to look at it from the user's perspective. Users keep it simple: they look at the financial figures—income, outcome, and ROI (Return on Investment). If you can't clearly explain how long it will take to win back their investment, your proposed technology is bound to fail—no matter how cutting-edge it is or how much you believe it will change the world.
