What is Manga Translator?

Manga Translator is a focused web tool for reading untranslated manga, manhwa, and webtoons. Upload a page image (or a whole ZIP chapter), and it runs OCR, translation, and re-rendering in one pass.

How it works

  1. Upload — drag and drop PNG, JPG, WEBP, or a ZIP archive; up to 15MB per image.
  2. Translate — the OCR layer handles stylized fonts, vertical text, and low-contrast scans. The translation model is context-aware, so honorifics, slang, and cultural references in dialogue read naturally instead of literally.
  3. Download — preview the result with bubble placement and typography preserved, then grab single pages or batch-download the chapter as a ZIP.

Why layout preservation matters

Most translation pipelines flatten a page into plain text. Manga Translator renders translated text back into the original speech bubbles, so the reading rhythm and visual balance of the page survive the process. That makes it usable for actually reading a chapter rather than cross-referencing a wall of text.

Use cases

  • Reading raw chapters that have no scanlation group working on them.
  • Quickly checking whether a series is worth picking up before committing to a full translation.
  • Translating doujinshi, fan comics, or one-off pages for personal reading.
  • Batch-processing a full chapter when you want to read ahead of the official release.

Technical notes

The pipeline is built around three stages: text detection and recognition, context-aware machine translation, and layout-aware re-rendering. Batch mode processes an entire archive sequentially, keeping page order intact.

Try it

Manga Translator is free to use and runs in the browser — no install required. Head to Manga Translator and drop in a page to see the output.
