Agentic development: what the real evidence says and what must change in your team

I just published a long-form piece on agentic development and what it really means for software teams.

The main point is simple: AI agents do not magically make teams faster. They amplify the system they are placed in.

If your repo has weak tests, flaky CI, unclear boundaries, or no real review capacity, agents will mostly generate more noise. If your engineering system is solid, they can help with repetitive work, scaffolding, refactors, and test coverage.

I also included a small Next.js example showing a controlled agent loop with typed output, tool validation, and a hard step budget. The goal was not to build a flashy demo, but to show what a production-safe agentic pattern actually looks like.

My takeaway: before adopting agents, fix your verifier first.

Curious how other teams are approaching this — are you already using agentic workflows in production, or still testing them in isolated tasks?
