We’ve all been there. You have a brilliant idea for a side project on a Friday night. You are incredibly motivated. You open your terminal, start scaffolding the project, fight with some dependency conflicts, try to configure your routing... and two hours later, you haven't written a single line of actual product code.
The excitement is gone, and the project is dead before it even started.
I strongly believe that the most expensive part of building a side project is the friction between "I have an idea" and "I can see a prototype." When creation feels slow, we just give up. I've been building NitroIDE specifically to act as a frontend playground that removes this setup friction so developers can test ideas instantly, but it made me wonder about the broader community.
What was the last side project idea you had that you abandoned entirely because the setup or initial execution just took too long? Let's share our abandoned projects and why we dropped them.
