Please take the following actions outlined below to remedy the issue.

Solution 1:

Export the PDF as a PostScript file and then convert it into a PDF using Distiller. The “A number is out of range” error occurs when Acrobat finds some problem with the underlying structure of the PDF file. The best solution is to get a new PDF from the owner. If you can’t get one, then follow the below steps to resolve the problem.

Steps to follow:

  • Open the PDF in Acrobat.
  • Select File > Export To > PostScript from the File menu.
  • Enter a new name for the file in the Save As PDF dialogue box, then click Save.
  • Go to the folder where the PostScript file was saved. Right-click the file and select Adobe Acrobat Distiller from the context menu.
  • The PostScript file is converted to a PDF file by Acrobat Distiller. In the same folder, the PDF file is saved.
  • Acrobat should be used to open the PDF file. Now try seeing the pages in the PDF or deleting, inserting, or adding a page.

⚠️ This method works effectively for PDFs that do not contain interactive features like multimedia or form fields.

Solution 2: Rename and open PDF

1. Rename the original file's name
2. Go to Chrome Browser and open this file
