Nice question, I found contributing to open source early surprisingly helped me land my first gig—how are you approaching building your portfolio so far?

Landing that first dev job can feel tough, but a few things really helped me and others:
- Portfolio first: Even small projects that show you can build something real go a long way. Interactive demos impress recruiters more than just GitHub repos.
- Freelancing & small gigs: Taking tiny freelance jobs, school projects, or contributions to open source builds confidence and experience.
- Networking: Connect on LinkedIn, attend local dev meetups or online communities sometimes jobs come from conversations, not just applications.
- Keep learning in public: Share what you’re building or learning on Twitter, dev.to, or GitHub it shows initiative and progress.
Honestly, I wish I started networking and sharing my projects earlier it opens doors you wouldn’t expect. Keep building and putting your work out there, it pays off!
