The real budget in AI adoption is not money.
Building an AI-ready culture without big budgets

Really enjoy this focus on culture over tools — it’s not just about the tech you add, but when and why you add it. I’ve seen teams add AI early because it “feels modern,” and they end up chasing outputs instead of understanding core workflows. How do you balance habit change with delivering visible value in early teams?
@[kajolshah] That’s a great question, and it gets to the heart of sustainable adoption. In early teams, the balance usually comes from anchoring habit change to a visible, low-risk win. Instead of introducing AI broadly, it’s more effective to apply it to one clearly defined workflow where success is easy to measure. That creates immediate value while quietly reshaping habits around clarity, standards, and reflection.
Once teams see that AI supports understanding rather than replacing it, behaviour changes naturally. The key is sequencing: prove value first in a small, contained way, then let culture follow. I appreciate you raising this; it’s a challenge many teams face in practice.
Really like the idea of sequencing value before culture. I’ve seen the same thing work best when the “win” is deliberately boring, like clarifying one decision, one metric, or one handoff, rather than a flashy AI feature.
When teams feel progress without extra cognitive load, habits shift almost accidentally. The moment AI feels like it’s doing less but making outcomes clearer, trust builds fast.
Have you seen cases where teams skipped that small win and paid for it later?
