ReverseVideoSearch.app — The Story, How It Works, and How You Can Get Involved

The Story Behind the Project

Online misinformation spreads faster than any fact-checker can keep up with. Photos have had reverse search tools for years, but videos never had a simple, accessible way to verify where they came from.

I built ReverseVideoSearch.app because I kept running into situations where a video clip was going viral with no context, no source, and no way to check if it had appeared online before. Journalists, researchers, and creators were all stuck manually screenshotting frames and running them through image search engines.

So I asked a simple question:

“What if verifying a video could be as easy as reverse-searching a single image?”

That question turned into a full-time engineering effort, built entirely in Java, with a scalable backend designed for real-world workloads.

How Others Can Get Involved

For Developers
•Contribute integrations, plugins, or wrappers.
•Help optimize frame extraction strategies.
•Suggest smarter deduplication or clustering algorithms.
•Improve accuracy by experimenting with different Vision features.

For Journalists / Researchers
•Use the tool to verify clips before publishing content.
•Provide feedback on UI, workflow, and desired export formats.

For Creators
•Help stress-test the system with different types of videos.
•Suggest features you’d want in an API or automation tool.

For Businesses

If you need higher limits, monthly frame allowances, or custom integrations, I offer scalable plans with expanded throughput.
