Your Business Central user-defined permission sets can be AL permission set objects in a few minutes, with real table names and not just numbers.

I built this free tool after converting permission sets by hand on a client upgrade project. Now you just drop in your files and download clean AL code.

What It Does

  • XML and Excel/CSV input. Use the Export Permission Sets XML, or a permission set exported to Excel and saved as CSV.
  • Real table names from the .app files in your .alpackages folder, so tabledata 17 becomes tabledata "G/L Entry".
  • One .al file per permission set, downloaded as a zip and ready for your AL project.
  • Runs in your browser. Nothing to install, and your files stay on your computer.
  • Easy enough for functional consultants too. No scripts and no command line.

Free, MIT licensed, and open source. Give it a try on your next upgrade and let me know how it goes.
