I am not exactly sure when this language really started to become writable. I imagine I am one of the few, if not the only guy to build a legitimately usable programming language without ever really having written it.
Don't get me wrong. I have written thousands of lines of scrml. But only in the context of describing some part of the language to agents. I had yet to actually open up NeoVim to a blank file and try you write a <program>.
After only about 8 loc, I had found 2 bugs. One of them significant. Function argument types were not checked against their parameter types. I mean, at all!
WTF?! The type system is the biggest component of the current compiler and it doesn't check types?!
Turns out, not as dramatic a bug as I had originally thought. While the type and state systems are tightly woven together; the logic system, apparently didn't get as much attention. Rectifiable.
But I do feel It's important to call this kind of thing out because it is a perfect example of what we will, certainly, continue to run into during the infant stage of this fancy new tool.
Not to drum behind the party beat, but, pretty sure we will still need human beings deep in the loop for a while.
And also a conditional apology. If any squishy brain out there has ever downloaded scrml and actually gave it a try; only to find out that it is still quite broken, in terms of human use...
