Really liked the MCP integration section. The idea of giving agents only the tools they actually need makes a lot of sense. Have you seen a big difference in real projects?

This breakdown captures what actually separates working agentic systems from fragile ones.
I've been covering MCP extensively, and your point about tool descriptions is the most underappreciated skill in agentic development. Most failures I see in production aren't model limitations—they're ambiguous tool boundaries that force the model to guess.
The error response section is critical and often skipped. "Empty result vs. failure" sounds like a small distinction, but I've watched agents loop indefinitely because a tool returned an empty result that got misinterpreted as an error requiring retry. Structured error responses with clear retryability signals prevent exactly that failure mode.
Your point on tool distribution resonates with what I'm documenting in enterprise agentic AI deployments: giving every agent access to every tool doesn't create capability, it creates confusion. Role-scoped tool access reduces both token costs and selection errors.
The MCP integration section on server-before-tool selection is subtle but important. Understanding why a model might prefer Grep over a more capable MCP tool gets at the core tension between familiarity and capability in tool selection.
This is genuinely useful material for anyone building production agent workflows, not just exam prep. Good resource.
@[Tom Smith] Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I’m glad these points also match what you’ve seen in production.
I’m still learning and experimenting with agentic development through my own side projects, so I don’t have much production experience yet. Writing this was mainly a way for me to understand these topics better by applying them in practice.

The “empty result vs failure” distinction is such a good point.
It’s easy to think, “no data came back, just retry.” Then suddenly your agent has discovered an infinite retry strategy 😂
Clear tool boundaries and structured errors seem less like nice-to-haves and more like basic survival skills for agentic systems.
