It's sad to see it happen, but copying an answer from Stack Overflow isn't much different from copying an answer from a generative coding assistant (except the Stack Overflow version takes a little more effort). The reason this is sad is that Stack Overflow is likely one of the best sources for these tools, so when they kill it off, we lose the thing making them work. That seems like especially bad news for novel/future problems.
