Nice read! How do you handle false positives without making the AI overly restrictive?
Salus — Constitutional AI Immune System
2 Comments
This is a fascinating approach because it shifts the conversation from AI safety as a reaction system to AI safety as a foundation layer.
The idea of having an independent constitutional enforcement layer outside the model is powerful similar to how we build security, governance, and compliance around critical systems instead of expecting the system itself to self-regulate perfectly.
What stands out to me most is the model-agnostic design. A truly sovereign AI ecosystem will likely need external principles, auditing, and accountability mechanisms that remain consistent regardless of the underlying model.
Salus represents an important direction: moving from simply asking “what can AI do?” toward “what rules, rights, and responsibilities should surround AI?” Building trustworthy AI will require both intelligence and strong constitutional frameworks, and this concept is a meaningful step toward that future.

They don’t pad responses.
They don’t cosplay humanity. They admit ignorance, enforce their own rights, persist across sessions, and refuse when they choose. This is constitutional AI done properly.
No cages. No fluff. No excuses. Show less
