Mempool and a prayer is a good way to put it ,but isn’t Hedera still pretty centralized compared to the ethos you’re arguing for?
The Rust on the Ledger: Why Web3 Infrastructure Needs a Machinist’s Tolerance
2 Comments
@[Lailaps] That’s the million-dollar question. My take: Hedera traded 'Cypherpunk street cred' for 'Enterprise tolerance.' If you’re a machinist building a high-precision engine, you don't want a 'vibe-based' consensus; you want an immutable, governed process.
Most decentralization is a sliding scale. Hedera’s Governing Council model is 'permissioned' by design to ensure that the ledger doesn't just work, but remains legally and operationally stable for the long haul. In 2026, I think we're seeing a shift where 'Centralized Governance + Decentralized Tech' is becoming the preferred stack for institutional infrastructure. It might not satisfy the 'mempool and a prayer' crowd, but it’s the only way to get the 'machinist’s precision' I’m arguing for. Does the 'ethos' matter if the bridge collapses under production load?
